Mrs. Ruth Phillips Stafford
  Graveside services were conducted for Mrs. Ruth Phillips Stafford, 88, of 
Gainesville, Ga. Saturday, Sept. 6 at 2 p.m. in Greenwood cemetery of 
Barnesville.  Mrs. Stafford died Thursday, Sept. 4, 1986.
  The Rev. Don Martin officiated.  Little-Davenport Funeral Home of 
Gainesville was in charge of arrangements.
  Mrs. Stafford was the first director of the Welfare Dept. of Georgia in 
Upson County.  She was married to the late Sam Stafford Sr. of The Rock.
  She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. R. H. Maupin Jr. of Athens and Mrs. 
J. T. Broadwater Jr. of Gainesville; one son, Mr. W. A. Stafford of Lake 
Burton.  Nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren also survive.
