CULLODEN BOY WITH EYES SHOT OUT DIES
[Jan 16, 1916]

William Person, 15 year old son of Mrs. Katie Pierson, of
Culloden, whose eyes were shot out from a bullet from a
pistol in the hands of a negro in Culloden on Dec 23,
died Tuesday night at 11:00 p.m. at Williams Sanatorium
in Macon.

The child was rushed to Macon immediately after the
accident and after receiving medical treatment, Doctors
said he would live but would lose his eyesight. Recently
however he took a turn for the worse.

In the Monroe County History book and FAMILY HISTORIES OF
GEORGIA  I find reference to a William Andrew Pierson who
was born May 24, 1902, and died Jan 16, 1916.  Buried in
the Pierson Family Cemetery, Monroe County, Georgia.  

He was the son of James Monroe and Catherine (Kate)
Holloway Pierson.  Seems that I recall reading an article
in the old newspapers about this death.
