Mr. David Self Dead.  
Mr. David Self died in Upson County, Ga., the 16th day of
August 1916, and was buried at Rowland Aug. 17.

He was born in Upson County Oct. 30, 1845, and enlisted
July 1861 in Thomaston in Company D. 13th Ga. Regiment of
Volunteers.  Sept 19 1864, at the battle of Winchester,
Va., he was wounded and captured and sent as a prisoner
to  Point Lookout, MD. And Nov. 1864 he was exchanged.

Mr. E. B. Thompson of this city, a lieutenant of CO. D.
13th. Ga. Regiment was also wounded in the battle of
Winchester-- shot in the shoulder and had his right
finger shot off and he made his escape by walking 18
miles at night.

The people of the County extend sympathy to the
relatives.
