All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by LisaGraham32@aol.com Lisa Graham http://www.usgwarchives.net/ga/upson.htm :Table of Contents page: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ga/gafiles.htm :GA Table of Contents: Greely Thomas Greely Thomas of Pike County died instantly about 10 o'clock Saturday night, Aug. 20, of a fractured skull and other injuries received when a Chevrolet Coupe driven by Kyle Williams of this city crashed into the rear-end of a one-horse wagon driven by Mr. Thomas on Highway no. 3 - two miles north of Thomaston and opposite the residence of Tom Britt. Riding on the rear end of the wagon were 12-year-old son, Douglas, it was stated that Mr. Goins took his son in his arms and jumped when it seemed that the car was going to strike the wagon, and escaped injuries himself, but his son suffered a broke leg. Neither Mr. William nor the young lady and the two men riding with him were injured. It is understood that the wagon did not carry a tail-light, and Mr. Williams states that he did not see the wagon. The grand jury brought an indictment of murder against Mr. Williams, which the State later changed to a charge of involuntary manslaughter, and trial of this case was being tried Thursday. Col.
