Mr. J. D. H. Thompson

Mr. J. D. H. Thompson, better known as 'Uncle Jesse,"
died  at his home about 5 miles south of Thomaston Friday
after an illness of several days. His funeral & burial
occurred at the family burying ground, near his home on
Saturday and were attended by a number of  sorrowing
friends and relatives.

The exercises were conducted by Rev. W. W. Childs.

Mr. Thompson was 85 years of age being born in Upson
County, March 14, 1832 and had lived here nearly his
whole life. He was a Confederate Veteran having been a
member of the 46th Georgia Regiment.

The deceased leaves the following children, his wife
having proceeded him to the grave about 7 years ago:

E. O. Thompson, of Shellman, Mrs. Eula Shelley, J. R.
Thompson, W. L. Thompson, Mrs. Birdie Mauldin, Mrs. Annie
Kelly, all of Upson County. He also leaves one sister,
Mrs. Nancy Ann Smith.

The times joins with the people of Upson in extending
sympathy to the relatives of deceased.
