L. Tisinger, widely known state jurist, who was stricken, while pleading a case in Federal District Court at Guthrie Monday, were held Wed. afternoon 4 o'clock at St. Luke's Methodist church Rev. Forney Hutchinson will have charge. Judge Tisinger was a former member of the state supreme court, a former assistant United States district Attorney, and in addition to holding other minor public offices was mayor of magnum, where he first practiced law in the State. Appearing as counsel for five Shawnee Nat'l bankers, he was preparing to argue a demurrer before Judge Cotteral when he suddenly became ill. Court attaches took him to the Court chambers where he died before medical aid arrived. Death was due to Heart Disease, it was said. Judge Tisinger was born in Talbot Co. GA. January 21, 1866, and was graduated from Ga. University in June, 1885. He practiced law in Thomaston, Ga., before coming to Oklahoma and was a member at different times of both houses of the Ga. legislature. He came to Oklahoma in 1908. He was appointed to the supreme court February 25, 1918, by Governor Williams to fill out the unexpired term of Justice Charles M. Thacker, which position he filled until his successor was elected. In 1920, he was appointed as assistant to Herbert L. Peck, then the United States district attorney, serving until the close of Peck's term. Recently he was associated with R. A. Billups in the practice of law here in Upson Co. He was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church, South, Masons, Elks, and Kappa Alpha, national college fraternity. He is survived by his Widow, Mrs. Mary Powell Tisinger, and a daughter, Miss Mary Ann Tisinger, both of Oklahoma City. A sister Mrs. Leola Andrews, lives in Thomaston Ga. Judge P. T. Clay, of the Eighteenth Oklahoma district is a cousin.
