WARREN PASSES AWAY Judge J.W.Warren died at the home of his daughter,Mrs.J.J.Childs,one mile south of Thomaston,Sunday evening,Feb.14,at 8 o'clock. he had been in declining health for the past several weeks but was confined to his bed only a short time. The funeral and burial of Judge Warren was at Antioch church Tuesday morning. The funeral was conducted by Rev. Davis, pastor of The Rock circuit, assisted by Rev. G.C.Knowles of East Thomaston church, Rev.S.R.England of Thomaston Methodist church, Rev. C.S.Durden,Thomaston Baptist church and Rev. Marvin Franklin of Barnesville Methodist church. The large number of relatives and friends of the deceased that gathered to pay a last tribute of respect and the beautiful floral offerings ,attested the high esteem in which this aged veteran was held. Judge Warren was a Confederate veteran having enlisted in company __ in Griffin, Spalding county 1863.At the time of his death he was Secretary- Treasure of Camp Gordon.U.C.V. of Upson county. He was nearly eighty years old,having been born in Spalding county,Ga. May 10, 1846,moved to Upson county in 1870,soon after moving here united with the Methodist church at Antioch,serving as a Steward a number of years also S.S.Superintendent a long while and was trustee at the time of his death.He also held the office of Justice of the Peace nearly twenty years and other minor offices which he filled to the satisfaction of the citizens of this county. The deceased is survived by the following children: Mrs.H.B.Barron,Mrs. J.J.Childs,Mrs. S.B.Lifsey,Mrs.J.F.Johnson,Mrs.J.W.Barron.Mr.C.A .Warren and Mr. J.E.Warren,also thirty seven grand- children and fifteen great grand-children.The following grandsons acted as pall-bearers: Dr.H.A.Barron,George Moore,Paul Childs,Gerdine Lifsey.Clarence Barron, and Elmo Warren with Stephens undertaking co. in charge. The bereaved ones have the sympathy of a wide circle of friends.
