Wood Dies Unexpectedly A number of Thomaston people were shocked and saddened by the death of Miss Mary Wood of Atlanta which occured Sunday. Miss Wood was quite well known in Thomaston having frequently visited Mr. and Mrs. B. H. Butts. She was a most charming and popular young woman. The account of her death as carried in the Atlanta Constitution, Monday is as follows: Apparently in good health Saturday night when she retired, Miss Mary L. Wood, prominent Atlanta business woman and member of a well-known family, was found dead in her bed at 10:30 o'clock Sunday morning by members of her family. A doctor said she had been dead for several hours and that death was the result of natural causes. She resided at 22 Springdale Drive. Miss Wood was the secretary and treasurer of the Capital Electric Company, and was also in charge of the lighting department of the company. She was widely known throughout the city, and had been in charge of the lighting of many of the city's most famous buildings and homes. The daughter of the Rev. and Mrs. E. H. Wood, Miss Wood had resided here for many years. She was a graduate of the LaGrange Female College, and was a member of the Peachtree Road Methodist church. Her father is a reitred Methodist minister, and is widely known over the state. He is a member of the North Georgia conference.
