Word died suddenly at his home in this city last Friday at 6:30 P.M. while seated at the supper table. He had been in feeble health for several years having suffered a stroke of paralysis sometime ago. The funeral and burial occurred in Griffin Sunday, the exercises being conducted by his pastor, Rev. J. R. McMullen. Mr. Word was 75 years of age, having been born in Grantville. For a number of years, he resided at Griffin being the agent for Southern Railway. He also lived several years in LaGrange, coming from there to Thomaston about 5 years ago. The deceased leaves his wife and the following children to mourn his loss: Mr. C. L. Word of West Point, Mrs. W. S. Herring of Washington D.C., Mrs. J. L. Pasley of Thomaston, Messrs R. M. Word and Hubert Word, of Atlanta. Mr. Word was a member of the Presbyterian church. Mr. Word was highly esteemed by the people of this community, among whom he had lived for the past five years, and his death will be a source of sorrow to them. The sympathy of the people of Thomaston is extended to the bereaved relatives.
