Brown. It was marked in the 1930's when the Early History of Upson Co. was published, but the marker is no longer there. He was born c. 1798 GA and died 13 May 1871. His daughter in law is to his right, Mariah Marquise Collier Brown. Additional Comments: Thomaston Herald, May 20, 1871 or Dr. R. L. Carter's column in Thomaston Times for Oct. 28, 1971 Died Mr. A. H. Brown, one of the oldest & highly esteemed citizens of this county died at his residence near Double Bridges on Sat. last, 31st inst. Mr. Brown was one of the first settlers of Upson County, & has filled many public offices of trust & profit. He was the first clerk of the Inferior Court of Upson County, elected in 1825, which office he faithfully filled until 1830. He was elected sheriff in 1832 in which office he served two years. He also served as judge of the Inferior Court for many years. He served during the war of 1836 as Captain of the infantry company from Upson Co. in the United States Army. He was buried last Sunday at Fellowship Church with Masonic Honors by Caslin Lodge #92 of Pleasant Hill, Talbot co. which Lodge he has served several years as Master. Thus has passed away, one more of our best & most useful citizens.
