Melton was struck in the abdomen by a mop handle while playing about Sept. 1, 
1940. Surgery was performed on Sept. 10 for the relief of obstruction, and he 
remained in the clinic until his death on Sept. 17, 1940.
He was 3 years, 8 months and 23 days old.


Additional Comments:
Melton's headstone show his birthdate as Dec. 25, 1936, death certificate shows 
Dec. 24th.
He is buried between his maternal grandparents, Andrew Melton and Ella Glanton.
