Recorded in record of Wills Pages 346& 349 This 5th Jan. 1874 William Cobb- Ordinary Georgia Upson County In the name of God Amen, I James Adams of Said County being of advanced age, but of sound mind & memory, knowing that I must soon depart this life- deem it right and proper to make a disposition of all of my property which a kind providence has blessed me with. I do therefore make this my last will & testament hereby revoking & annulling all others. First. I desire & direct that my body be buried in a decent Christian like manner suitable to my circumstances & conditions in life. My soul I trust shall return to God who gave is as I trust for Salvation through the blessed savior Jesus Christ. Item second . I desire all my debts be paid- Item third. I give desire & bequeath to my beloved wife Eliza A. Adams -the following property to wit, one fraction lot of parcel of land No. 148 in 16th district originally Houston, now Upson County containing 200 acres more or less, who one were or the west bank of the river of the ? of the bridge in Talbot County along the bridge on Flint River to have & hold the foregoing property for & during her natural life & its proceeds and profits & after her death, the aforesaid property to be divided between my children as hereinafter provided in this my last will & testament, also a child's part or share in my personal estate in fee simple. Item forth. I demise & bequeath to me beloved daughter Louisa Martin & her children (Wife of William Martin) one lot of land described being & lying in Upson Co..etc.(cannot read all of writing). Item five. I give demise & bequeath to my beloved May Eliza Matthews & her children an equal share in my personal estate & real estate to be sold as hereinafter provided in this my last will & testament & not subject to debts of present or future husband. Item six. I give, demise & bequeath to my beloved daughter Frances Ann Matthews & her children, one equal share or child's part of my personal estate also a equal portion of the proceeds of the sale of lands & hereinafter provided for in this my last will & testament. It is my wish & direction that none of the property my daughter Frances Ann & her children is to go to into possession, custody & control of her Husband, John F. Matthews in no capacity whatsoever, other than as trustee as guardian for her children. Item 7. I give & demise & bequeath to my beloved daughter Sarah Williams & her children one equal share or child's part of my estate and also an equal portion arising from the proceeds of the sale of my lands hereafter provided in this my last will & testament. Item 8. I give and bequeath & demise my beloved daughter Dora, single daughter, and equal share of my personal estate and also an equal portion coming from sale of proceeds as herefore provided for in this last will & testament. item 9. I give & bequeath & demise to my beloved son John W. Adams an equal share or proceeds of my personal estate and also an equal portion of proceeds from the sale of my Estate as hereafter provided my last will & testament. Item 10. I bequeath, demise to my beloved son William W. Adams an equal share of my personal share and equal ?? Item 11. I bequeath & demise to my son Ellington Amos Adams an equal share of my personal estate & an equal share of my lands hereinafter proceeds for this my last will & testament Less five hundred dollars for having left me 5 years before he become of age. Item 12. I give & bequeath & demise to my beloved son Thomas an equal share of my personal estate, also an equal portion from proceeds of sole real estate as hereinafter provided for in this last will & testament. LESS Four hundred dollars for having left me four years before he become of age- Item 13 I hereby direct & request & order returns of my real estate in Upson, Talbot & any other Counties which is not here in before given or dismissed ?? Item 14. I leave no executor Item 15. I hereby request James Green, Attny > $100 to petition & execution of this will according to the proceeds.
