Written: October 1, 1851 Recorded: March 1, 1852 Will of Joel Moody Georgia Upson County I, Joel Moody of said state and county, being of advanced age and knowing that I must shortly depart from this world, deem it right and proper, both as respects myself and family, that I should make a disposition of the property, which a kind providence has blessed me. I therefore make this my last will and testament, hereby revoking and annulling all others heretofore made by me. Item. First, I devise and direct that my body be buried in a decent and Christian like manner suitable to my circumstances and condition. Item. Second, I desire and direct that all my just debts be paid without delay by my executors hereafter named. Item. Third, I give and devise both real and personal land, Negroes, stocks, plantation tools and all other property whatsoever unto my wife Annie Moody so long as she may live. After her death then, my son William Moody to have in money or property $150; and John Moody my son to have $150 in money or property; and my son Green B. Moody $150 in money or property. Then the remainder to be divided equally among the three above named sons and my son Riley Moody. It is my wish and desire that my son Green B. Woody live with my wife during her life, and attend to her strictly in every respect, and to the farm and farming concerns and all other business that pertaineth to the interest of said estate and for the peace and ease of my wife. And for his services thus rendered I bequeath to him my son Green B. Moody a proportionate part of all the profits arising from the proceeds of said farm while supervising said estate. Item. Fourth, I constitute and appoint my son Green B. Moody and my friend Daniel Denham executors to this my last will and testament. October 1st 1851.
