Additional Comments:
John Goodwyn Raines died leaving minor chldren in Upson Co. and there are court  
records in Upson Co.Ga. His wife Mary Smith Bryan "Polly" married second Robert  
Howe, who was formally married to Susannah Gray-sister of Archebald Gray and  
children of James Gray, Pike Co.Ga. Rev. Soldier and his wife Mary Riley-Of  
Orange Co. N.C. 
Mary Smith Bryan is of the  Smith Whitfield Bryan line. Books are available in  
Americus,Sumter,Ga. library on this family. The Needham Bryan line-written of  
by Caroline Nottingham who wrote the Upson Co.Ga. history, and did much D.A.R.  
work on these and other soldiers. (See Biography of John Upson, Father Thomas
