John Coker died in Morgan county, Ala., on the 7th day of June, 1890, in his 82nd year. He lived in Walton county, this State, several years away back in the thirties, where I was born in 1836. He left Walton in the latter part of '45 and lived in Upson county, Ga., two years and in the fall of '45 moved to Walker county, stopping at Crawfish Spring a short time. (And just here I want to say that according to my recollection the spring does not afford near the amount of water now that it did in 1845. Of course I may be mistaken) For several years he was helpless and was attended faithfully by his eldest daughter, Elizabeth, who devoted her whole time to caring for him. Faithful daughter, you have done well. N. H. C. [The Walton County News will please copy.] Local News Mr. John Coker, of Morgan county Ala., whose death is mentioned elsewhere besides the two sons in this section, leaves a son and daughter in Walton county. J. C. Wardlaw Additional Comments: N. H. C. is Newton Horry Coker.
