Affidavit Of Widow
1891 - Affidavit of Widow:  State of Georgia, County of Walton, In person came 
before me Mrs. J.H. Ragan, who being sworn according to Law, says under oath 
that she is the widow of J.H. Ragan, who was a soldier in the Confederate 
States, and served as a member of Company B, of the 1 st Regiment of Georgia 
Reserve Volunteers; that he enlisted in said service on or about the 15th day 
of May 1864, and was in Confederate Army up to August 1864.  That while in 
Army, he had diarrhea in Camp and cam home on furlough about the 20th day of 
August 1864 and died from the effect of said disease at his home in Walton 
County Georgia on the 30th day of August 1864.  Deponent further swears that 
she was the wife of said deceased soldier during his term of service in the 
Army, and that she has never married since his death; that she became his wfie 
on the 1st day of August 1839 and that she has resided in Georgia sincer her 
birth; that Georgia is her home, and was such on the 23rd of December 1890, 
since said date she has not lived in any other State or locality. Deponent as 
the widow of said deceased soldier, applies for the pension provided by Act of 
the General Assembly of Georgia approved 12/23/1890, for pension year ending 
February 15th, 1892, and herewith tenders the proof of her right to receive 
the allowance granted by said Act.  Sworn and subscribed before me this 6th 
day of May 1891. J.A. Ragan by her mark X  R.A. Card Ordinary.
