T. Moon, of Buncomb district, took an overdose of morphine last Friday evening, and died from its effects about 9 o'clock Saturday morning. He was suffering from a large carbuncle on his neck, and could get no relief until he went to a neighbors house and got several doses of morphine and began to take it. This seemed to be slow in affecting him, and he continued to take it, until finally he went to sleep late in the evening and slept until about 10 o'clock at night, when he was aroused, but only for a few minutes, as it had its deadly hold on him. The family did not realize the danger perhaps until early in the morning, and sent for a physician, but he arrived too late to do any good. Mr. Moon was an industrious farmer, about 35 years old, and leaves a young wife and many relatives and friends to mourn his sad and untimely end. Walton News.
