Mrs. Bentley had been in good health and active about the homestead until the 16th of May, but since that time she experienced a steady decline and was forced to seek her bed. Mrs. Bentley was born April 16th 1841, in Campbell County and came with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Davies, to Loganville when a young girl. She was eighty two years of age the sixteenthe of last April. In the year 1861 she was married to Isaac Bentley and this long and congenial union was blessed with fifteen children, four of who died in infancy and eleven of who are still living as follows. Messrs. W. I. Bentley of this county, C. R. Bentley of Jacksonville, Alabama, J. R. Bentley, W. J., A. M. and V. E. Bentley of this county and H. L. Bentley of Winder; Mrs. A. S. Smith of Monroe, Mrs. W. D. Still of Atlanta, Mrs. D. A. L. Still and Mrs. L. M. Watson of Loganville. Mrs. Bentley had been a member of the Christian Church for about fifty years, first having her membership at Corinth and later at Loganville. Since the death of her husband fifteen years ago she has lived with her son, Mr. Vernie E. Bentley, at the old homestead, and here she was given every comfort and attention that love and devotion could bestow. Mrs. Bentley was a woman of the strongest Christian character and one of the noblest and sweetest of that type. All who new her loved and admired her for her many splendid attributes, and her passing saddens the whole community where she was a sure and inspiring influence for so long. Mrs. Bentley had a most remarkable memory and could distinctly recall the days when there were no railroads, no telegraph or telephones or any of the modern conveniences or modes of communication of this day. The funeral and interment occurred Tuesday afternoon at Bay Creek, Rev. Erastus Shelnutt and Rev. Fox, of Winder conducting the last sad rites among a large concourse of sorrowing loved ones and friends. In their hour of deep bereavement The Tribune sends assurances of deepest condolence to the bereaved family. Additional Comments: This was copied from a newspaper clipping in possession of Mary Daniels and Mrytie Mitchem granddaughters of Frances Caroline. No date was on the clipping. Mary and Mrytie are deceased as well as all the names listed.
