It was reprinted from the Walton News. Dock Brand is buried in the Gum Creek Church Cemetary. His tombstone states that he was born May 1, 1841 and died May 30, 1920. DEATH CLAIMED MR. DOCK BRAND Sunday night about 10 o'clock at his home some four miles southeast of Loganville, death claimed a most excellent Walton County Citizen in the person of Mr. Dock Brand. Mr. Brand we are told, was seventy nine years of age and had spent most of his life at the place where he died. He was the father of several children, a number of whom, with his aged wife survive him, and in their time of great sorrow have the sympathies of many relatives and friends. Mr. Brand, we are informed, raised Mr. Walter B. Stovall, one of Monroe's most successful business men, and did many commendable deeds in his long and eventful life. He, we are told, did not belong to any church, but was a man of sterling honesty and stood high among his fellow countrymen. He was a man who liked to play the violin and upon many occaisions he was the center of attraction and entertainment. The funeral and burial of this aged gentleman occured at Gum Creek Monday afternoon, the services being in the charge of Rev. J. J. Stephenson. A large crowd was in attendance, attesting the generous esteem in which the deceased was held.
