Walton Triubne, Monroe, Georgia, January 27, 1965
Mitchem Rite Held. Funeral services were conducted Friday afternoon for Griff 
M. Mitchem of Monroe, who died Thursday at the Walton County Hospital 
following long illness. Elder W. Allen performed the last rites at Broadlawn 
with The E. L. Almond Company in Charge. Burial occurred in the City Cemetery 
at Rutledge. Born in Morgan County January 23, 1889, Mr. Mitchem was the son 
of Cato Sparks and Virginia Phelphs Mitchem. He is a member of Rock Springs 
Baptist Church. The deceased made his home in Monroe for 13 years. Survivors 
include his wife Mrs. Myrtie Bentley Mitchem, daughter Mrs. Charles Johnson of 
Hampton, sons Howard Mitchem of Atlanta, Inman Mitchem of Marietta and George 
Mitchem of Orlando, FL, eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. The 
Tribune extends sincere sympathy to the grieving family.
