Georgia Enterprise, May 27, 1897
     In noting the death of a good man in Walton county the Social Circle 
Sentry says: “After eating dinner as heartily as usual at his home near 
Whitney, on Thursday of  last week, Mr. Tom Mitcham was taken violently ill and 
died before medical aid could be secured. Mr. Mitcham was an industrious, quiet 
and respected citizen and his sudden demise was a shock to the neighbors and 
relatives in the community.”
