Funeral services were held Dec. 12 in Memory Chapel. Rev. J. Sheril Jones officiated and interment was in Rest haven Cemetery. Pall Bearers were Jack Queen, Kenneth Murray, Lewis Whitley, Bill Preston, Oran Penland and George Baker. Mr. McGaughey was born Nov 12,1889 in Walton Cty and lived here all his life. He was the son of the late Julia Mullin McGaughey and Mr McGaughey. He had been a salesman and was a member of the First Baptist Church. Surviving are sisters, Mrs. John Hearn of Atlanta, Mrs. Ed Thaxton of Madison, Mrs. Lola Mitcham of Decatur, al and Mrs Martha Young of Sanford Fl. Sisters-in-law, Mrs Boyce Williamson and Mrs. J. W. Graff, both of Birmingham, Al Mrs F.D. Warren of Tampa, fl and brother in law, Parks Strickland of Trussville, Al. Williams-Smith Funeral Directors. Grady McGaughey operated the projector for the first movie, THE TITANIC, ever shown in Monroe. This took place at the Opera House on site of current courthouse annex on Court Street.
