G. E. KNOX DIED SATURDAY AFTERNOON SOCIAL CIRCLE MOURNS THE DEATH OF ONE OF HER MOST PROMINENT AND HIGHLY RESPECTED CITIZENS. The death of Mr. G. E. Knox came as a shock to his family and friends, for he had only been confined to his home for five days and not until midnight Wednesday was his case serious to cause alarm. From childhood Mr. Knox had been a resident of Social Circle, and in the business world a prominent figure. Until a year and a half ago he was a member of the mercantile firm of Knox Bros. The first of the year he opened a drug store which is managed by his son, Mr. Peter Knox, and is known as the Knox Pharmacy. He was from a young man a member of the Baptist church and his pastors had no better friend than he. All that medical skill could do was done for Mr. Knox, but Saturday afternoon as the sun sank beyond the western horizon the summons came and he went to join the father, mother, brothers and sisters who had gone before. Mr. Knox was 59 years old. In January, 1875 he was married to Miss Mattie Crawley, and to them were given six daughters and two sons. The first link of this family, chain was broken when the head of the house passed away Saturday. His daughters are Mrs. Chas. Loyd, Mrs. H. H. Herendon, Mrs. Fletcher Spearman of Anniston Ala., Mrs. George Hatcher, Misses Willie and Ruth Knox, Mr. George Knox, and Mr. Peter Knox. - Walton News This file has been created by a form at http://www.poppet.org/gafiles/ File size: 1.9 Kb
