This file was contributed by: Cindy Norwood Ladyluc91@aol.com ==================================================================== Georgia, Walton County Years Support No. 1 TO THE HONORABLE COURT OF ORDINARY OF SAID COUNTY: The petition of Mrs. M.A. Dalton respectfully showeth that Jesse Dalton late of said County, departed this life on the 10th day of Feby 1904,leaving your petitioner, his widow, and no minor children surviving him, and she prays for your Honorable Court in conformity with the statute in such case made and provided, to appoint five discreet and proper persons to act as appraisers in setting apart to your petitioner as aforesaid, the sum necessary in their judgement for support and maintenance for the space of twelve months from the death of the said Jesse Dalton of your petitioner, either in money or such property as may be selected by your petitioner at a fair valuation to be made by said appraisers. And, also, to set apart a sufficient amount of household furniture for the use of your petitioner. And, further, to require said appraisers to return to you for record their proceedings. This 22 day of Feby, 1904 Wm. L. Johnston WALTON COJNTY COURT OF ORDINARY AT CHAMBERS Feby 22, 1904. Upon the foregoing application of Mrs. M.A. Dalton the widow of Jesse Dalton deceased, for the appointment of appraisers to set apart to said, a sum necessary for their support and maintenance for the space of twelve months, out of the estate of said Jesse Dalton deceased, and also, to set apart for the use of said widow, a sufficient amount of household furniture. It is ordered that T.J. Cook, Albert Verner, R.V. Johnston, W.S. McGaughey and Jno E. Wright, be and they are hereby appointed appraisers, and they, or a majority of them, are hereby empowered to set off and assign to the said Mrs. M.A. Dalton widow of Jesse Dalton deceased, late of said County, out of the estate of the said deceased, a sum necessary for the support and maintenance of said widow for the space of twelve months; and also, a sufficient amount of household furniture for the use of said widow. And the said sum so set apart as aforesaid to be either in money or such property as the widow may select, at a fair valuation, to be made by said appraisers; and if, upon a just appraisement of the estate, the same does not exceed five hundred dollars, you will set the whole apart. Further ordered, that said appraisers return to me for record all their proceedings in the premises. Given under my hand and official signature, this 22 day of Feby, 1904 R.C. GEORGIA, WALTON COUNTY TO THE HONORABLE COURT OF ORDINARY OF SAID COUNTY We, the undersigned, appointed by the Honorable the Ordinary of said County of Walton to assess and set apart a sum necessary for the support and maintenance of the widow of Jesse Dalton deceased, for the space of twelve months, either in money or such property as the said widow may select, do report, that we have assessed and set apart as being necessary for the support and maintenance of said widow and minor children the sum of Two Hundred & Fifty Dollars, which the said widow has selected, to take as follows: 1 mule $80.00, 1 top buggy $50.00, 1 Jersey Milk Cow & Calf $30.00, 1 spotted hog $12.00, 1/2 undivided unit in hay $3.00, 30 Bushels Cotton Seed $4.00, 50 # flour $1.25, 1 Plow Stock .75, 75 # wheat $6.00. And we also set apart the following household furniture for the use of said widow and children: 3 choice bed steads & bedding, contents 1 choice trunk, dining room & kitchen furniture, 2 rocking chairs, 1 clock.
