I Laney Michael of said State & County being of advance age and knowing that I must shortly depart this life deem it fair & proper that I should make a dispose of the property with which a Kind Providence has bless me do therefore make this my last will & testament hereby revoking all other will heretofor made by me. 1 Item I desire and direct that my body be buried in a descent & Christian like manner suited to my condition in life. My soul I trust shall return to rest with God who gave it. 2 Item I desire & direct that my just debts be paid without delay by my Executor herein after appointed. 3 Item I give & bequeath & devise to my son William L Michael all of the notes I hold against him. 4 Item I give & bequeath & devise to my son John M Michael all of my horses and mules & all of my crockery & glassware & two bed steads & one bead (sp) and all of the bead (sp) clothing of every kind. Also I will and desire that my son John M should have my Negro man by the name of Peter, about forty years of age dark complected. 5 Item I desire that my Negro woman Easter to be sold and the present crop and applied to my debts and furnishing a Tomb over my grave also furnishing head & foot pieece to the graves of my four children buried her (sp) at this my last residence and if there should be a remainder after paying my debts and the toombs (sp) above mentioned it is my will it should be divided amongst my three daughter to wit Adaline Goolsby wife of Jefferson Goolsby & Penny Held wife of S L Held, Juiry Turner wife of James M Turner. 6 Item I here by constitute & appoint my friend H W Sheats my Executor of my last will & testament this 12 day of July 1860. Laney Michael (her mark) Signed Sealed declared by Laney Michael as her last will & testament in the presents of us who subscribed our names here unto in the presents of said testator, at her, special instance & request, this 12 day of July 1860. John R Thompson Phillip Thurmand William T Robison Georgia Walton County Before me Jesse Mitchell ordinary of said county, came in person Henry W Sheats executor of the last will and testament of Laney Michael deceased late of said county and also the witness to said will by John R Thompson, Phillip Thurmond and William T Robison who being duly sworn depose and say that they saw the said Laney Michael sign seal publish and declare the said instrument as her last will and testament. Voluntarily and freely without compulsion and that they signed said will as witnesses in the presence of said Laney Michael and that she was of sound and disposing mind and memory.
