I William Michael Walton County } of said State and County being of sound } mind and memory though feeble health doth constitute & make the following will to wit. First. I assign my soul into the hands of that God who gave it my body to the dust to be buried in a descent and Christian like manner. Second. I loan to my beloved wife Laney Michael the plantation on which I now live with the following Negroes, Henry a man, Jane a woman, Eady a girl & Mariah a girl, with their increase, during her life with all my stock, tools and household furniture except as hereafter expressed. Third. I give to my son William Layfayette one hundred acres of land in Walton County known as the Leonard Thomas place & the following Negroes, namely Lewis a man, Nelly a woman, Charles a boy and Eady a girl & her children if any at the death of my wife & also Jane & her children if any at the death as before of my wife. I also will the said William L. a fifty dollar horse a cow & calf a bed furniture & a yoke of oxen if however I should during my lifetime deliver to the said William a part or all of the property last named then & in that event so much as I may during my life deliver to him shall not be again delivered to him after my death. Fourth. I give to my son John Marion the following Negroes to wit Easter a woman, Lathy a woman, Henry a boy, Margaret a girl, Robert a boy with increase together with a Jerry a man & Mariah a girl & the land on which I now live at the death of my wife & also the increase of Mariah if any at the death of my said wife and also all my stock tools household furniture not otherwise disposed of in this will at the death of my wife. Fifth. I give my single daughter Juria Angeline the following Negroes to wit Martha a woman, Mary a girl one bedstead and furniture & one cow & calf. Sixth. I give to married daughter & the heirs of her body Penny Avaline Held the following Negroes to wit Mingo a man, Milly a woman & Rachael a girl & their increase together with two hundred dollars in cash heretofore given her & also the bed furniture with the stock previous by delivery to her. Seventh. I give to my married daughter Mary Adeline Goolsby & the heirs of her body the plantation on which she now lives known as the Avirett place containing fifty acres more or less the one half undivided 1 of lot number nine hundred thirty four the twenty first district of the second section (Cherokee when surveyed & my interest in a dower of my Mother in Oglethorpe County together with a Negro woman by the name of Judy plus increase if any. Eighth. I nominate and appoint my friend John Walker Harris my executor & trustee for my married daughters Jurie Angeline Held (this is wrong name) and Mary Adeline Goolsby the former the wife of Samuel L. Held & the latter the wife of Jefferson Goolsby. In testimony whereof I William Michael hath hereunto subscribed my name and affixed my seal this 11th day of May 1848. Selman & Francis S. } Colby who being duly sworn deposeth and saith that they saw William Michael sign the within will and at his request they subscribed the same as witnesses in the presence of the testates & in the presence of each other, and that he assigned it freely without compulsion and at the time think he was of sound disparing mind & memory.
