WARE Co. GEORGIA BIOGRAPHIES: SCOTT BEATON File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by Barbara Walker Winge Copyright. All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm SCOTT BEATON Scott Beaton, one of our young men who is gaining prominence in the community through his desire to adhere to his surroundings in the town and county, in regard to law and order, as an enterprising citizen and as a devoted member of the Methodist church, who is striving to do all he can for the better interests of the people, was born at Spanish Creek, Charlton County, Georgia, August 19, 1878. His parents were J. T. and S. F. Beaton. His grandparents were David E. and Elizabeth Ann. Both parents and grandparents owned large plantations. He attended school here and at Green Cove Springs, Florida. After the school days were over he merchandized at Fitzgerald, Georgia, for a time and then came here and opened business for himself. He has recently opened a fancy and staple grocery store in Beaton Block, which is owned by himself, opposite the A. C. L. building, and adjoining the opera house. Mr. Beaton expects, in the near future, to erect a four or six story building where this is now located. Just in front of this block the new passenger depot of the Atlantic Coast Line will be erected. He also owns two lots at the corner of Stephenson and Pendergast streets; his place of residence lower down on Stephenson; and two nice cottages on Haines Avenue. Mr. Beaton is a Red Man, Mason and Left Supporter to the Vice Grand pf the local lodge of Odd Fellows. He married Miss Louisa Alba, daughter of Mrs. Louise A. Edwards. He has four living children, Earle, Everett, Alberta and Jeanette. Ref: INDUSTRIAL EDITION OF THE WAYCROSS EVENING HERALD, 1907, Waycross, Ware County, Georgia, p. 31.
