He is the son of Richard and Mary Bennett. His mother was the daughter of Dr. Randall and Catherine McDonald. Commissioner Bennett was a member of Co. E, 26th Georgia Regiment, in General Gordon's Brigade and served all through the war. His schooling was received in Ware County, and he owns about 100 acres of land near Waresboro. He married Miss Emma Smith, daughter of Austin and Mary Smith, both are members of the Methodist Church.
