He is the son of M. R. and Pauline (nee Tamanas). His father was for many years editor of the Jacksonville Times-Union. He is also the nephew of J. E. T. Bowden, whom he was named after; ex-mayor of Jacksonville. His grandfather's name was Reuben and was a successful merchant of Spartanburg, S. C. Our real estate hustler attended the Jacksonville graded school for five years, traveled the Southern States for the R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Company several years, and was in the grocery business here for a time, prior to his association with the Deen Realty and Improvement Company, as manager of the sales department, his present position. Mr. Bowden is an Elk, a Pythian Knight and vestryman of the Episcopal Church. He married Miss Cora King, daughter of Ziba and Florida King. Her father's home was at Arcadia and he was considered the cattle king of the State. Their children are Pauline Elizabeth and Louise King. The subject of this sketch is building a palatial residence at the corner of Carswell and Nicholls streets. He is an all-round good fellow and popular.
