The King's Daughters Of America Association in Waycross elected to establish a hospital as their project. The ladies of King's Daughters worked hard to have that hospital built and it was well received in the growing city of Waycross as it served a great need. As Waycross grew, it soon became evident that a new and larger hospital was needed. This hospital was finally completed in 1931 and the King's Daughters agreed when it opened that they would close their hospital and at that time they moved their patients into the Ware County Hospital. When the Ware County Hospital opened, nothing had been done about a Nurses Home, so the King's Daughters bought the building across the street from the new hospital (which now serves as offices for the Civil Defense Director and Dr. Paul Lee) remodeled it, and denoted it to the Ware County Hospital for a Nurses Home. The Nursing School of the King's Daughters had been closed due to a new law closing all small hospital training programs of under 50 beds. ======================== USGENWEB NOTICE: In keeping with our policy of providing free information on the Internet, data may be freely used by non-commercial entities, as long as this message remains on all copied material.
