Meeting at Booth Methodist Church in Manor, GA on August 13, 1984 by Sister Doris Booth for my Great Aunt, Juanita Guthrie Booth of Manor. Tonight, we want to honor one of our members. Although I realize I would never be able to say all the good things about this person that could be said. As long as I have known her, she's been a member of Booth Church and even before I came in the church she taught Sunday School in the old church that was torn down when the one we have now was built. She was faithful then, when church was held once a month to attend Sunday School rallies and conferences, as she is now. She was always a friend to the friendless and lended a helping hand when she could. Her doors to her home were always open to give a meal to the preachers or to anyone if it was for a few minutes visit or several months. You always felt welcome. She helped those who needed her most. She shared the things she had in her home with neighbors or friends who had a burn out, death, or any misfortune that could use her help. There were always a lot of things she did, such as cooking for church gatherings that went unnoticed by a lot of people, but yet, someone had to do it. There were a lot of good deeds she did only God knows about. Jesus said in John 24:14 "Now therefore fear the Lord, and serve him in sincerity and truth. Also Matthew 25:21 "Well done thy good and faithful servant, thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things." She wasn't blessed to have children of her own to live to "rise up and call her blessed", but my at the many children's lives she has touched in some way or another. Jesus said for us to love and bless little children, and forbid them not, for of such is the kingdom of Heaven. She showed her love to all of them in one way or another. In 1943 during a revival, Brother East organized our W.M.S. and she was elected our first president. Since then she has held other offices and for many years now, she has been the corresponding chairman of our society in which gives untiringly her service in still another field of God's service, and for the society, has brought rays of sunshine in many sickrooms with cards and also for other occasions. We are proud of her tonight, more than she'll ever know and this scripture from God's word speaks for us. Jesus said in John 12:26 "If any man serve me, let him follow me, and where I am there shall also my servant be. If any man serve me, him will my Father honour." Submitted for W.M.S.
