WARE COUNTY GA Letters - Walker File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by Barbara Winge barbarawinge@yahoo.com http://files.usgwarchives.net/ga/ware/history/walker.txt Black Mt. N. C. Mr. Sam W. Walker Waycross, Ga. My Dear Sam: I have just seen the paper and my how I sympathize with you and I hope you are not hurt as bad as the paper states. I have surely been building big hopes on the nice hunts we were to have this winter. I have a dog now borrowed for the winter that took second place in the Virginia Carolina runs and I was going to show you a surprise and will yet, for if you do loose your right eye, which I do hope and pray you wont, you will have to shoot left handed and that would make us about even, for I am tired of you beating me any ways, I can see you working that old funny gun right now. Sam your misfortune hurt me, and then to think a sorry _______ did it, makes it even worse. I trust this will find Mrs. Walker and the baby well and give them my kindess regards, and hoping with all my heart your wound is not as bad as the paper states, and that you may soon get well and out again. With highest regards, I am. Yours, McBarnes Sam there is only one consolation and that is you were hurt doing your duty. Note: Sam Walker, a Policeman, was shot while on duty and lost his right eye.
