"Forest Rangers"


This company was successively designated New Company H,
13th Regiment Georgia Volunteer Infantry and Company H,
which became Company K, May 8 or 10, 1862, 26th Regiment
Georgia Volunteer Infantry.


This company was organized at Waresboro, Georgia October
1, 1861. Ordered to Brunswick, Georgia and arrived there
October 3, 1861. Ordered to St. Simon Island, Georgia
October 4, 1861. Mustered into C.S. service for six
months October 14, 1861, and attached to 13th Regiment
Georgia Volunteer Infantry, Colonel C. W. Styles
commanding; ordered to Brunswick, Georgia February 17,
1862. The original time having expired this company was
mustered out March 31, 1862, and reenlisted.

He was wounded twice in the 2nd Manassas ( or 2nd Bull
Run) It was reported on 23rd of August 1863 he suffered
both a chest wound and an arm wound A minnie ball had
entered his chest injuring his lung. a seperate report
listed he lost his arm, but there was any mention of this
in verifiable records after the war

to Company L, April 28, 1862. Wounded in left arm,
necessitating amputation below elbow, and captured at
Monocacy, Maryland July 9, 1864. Paroled at West's Bldgs.
Hospitals at Baltimore, Maryland September 19, 1864, and
released there September 21, 1864. (Resident of Georgia
since October 16, 1891.)
