P. Stewart, of Waycross, Succumbs to Injuries. HIS WIFE CANNOT LIVE Brother of Lucus Lancaster, Who Was Instantly Killed in Pleasure Trip in The Okefenokee Swamp, Takes Body To Brunswick For Interment. WAYCROSS, Nov. 17.---- P. P. Stewart of Waycross, one of eleven passengers swept from a flat car yesterday on the Waycross and Southern railway by an overhanging limb, died in a hospital here early today. His wife, one of the injured, cannot live. L. B. Lancaster, of Brunswick, died yesterday. The car carried 15 sightseers on a trip through the Okefenokee swamp. Half of them were women. That Sunday's accident in which two were killed, and a number hurt while returning to Hopkins from Craven Island, in the Okefenokee swamp, was nothing more than punishment for landing a pleasure trip on Sunday, was the statement made today by Mrs. P. P. Stewart, a member of the party, and who is tonight thought to be in a dying condition. Her husband lingered until early today. No funeral arrangements have been made pending advice from relatives. Mrs. Stewart could not be told of her husband's death until late today, when she collapsed for the first time. "We ought not to have gone on that trip," said Mrs. Stewart. "I felt that it was wrong and am sure the accident came to us as a punishment." Takes Body Home. W. B. Lancaster, a brother of young Luther Lancaster, who met instant death under the car wheels, came here today and returned to Brunswick tonight with the body. Funeral sevices will be held in Brunswick tomorrow. Besides his wife, Stewart is survived by his father, L. E. Stewart, of Micanopy, Fla., a brother, L. Stewart, of Ware, and three sisters, all of this section. The detailed report of the accident was received today and states that a small bay tree, hanging over the track, caught on the small engine's smokestack and was brushed almost parallel with the train, rebounding with terrific force, and knocking those on the car to the ground. Two married couples, close to the engine were barely touched by the death dealing tree. Additional Comments: P.P. Stewart's full name is Philetus Payton STEWART, son of Leighton Erastus STEWART and Susan Emma COOK-SCOTT-STEWART.
