Death of the 77 year old former city employee occurred at the residence of his daughter, Mrs. Vernon Keenan, 1016 Mary St. For several years he had made his home at the residence of his sister, Mrs. D. Salisbury, 412 Reed St. WALKER, until his retirement here Jan. 1, was superintendent of the Waycross City Garage. An employee of the city for over 30 years, he was driver of the first motored fire truck of Waycross. Walker had been a resident of Waycross for 62 years. He moved to Waycross from Madison with his parents and family in 1902. His father was Dr. Thomas Jefferson Walker and his mother was the former Emma Louisa West. His wife, who preceded him in death, was the former Lola Florence Wright. His son, Lawrence Walker, was killed in an automobile accident in 1957. WALKER was a veteran of World War I in the U. S. Army maintenance division for airplanes. He was a Legionnaire and member of the Veterans of World War I. Member of the First Methodist Church, he also held membership in the Masons, Elks, and the Georgia Firemen's Association. Survivors in addition to this daughter, Mrs. Keenan, and his sister, Mrs. Salisbury, are five grandchildren, three nieces and nephews. He was the uncle of Sam W. Walker, Jr., and Mrs. A. E. Smith of Waycross, and Mrs. Bannon [Stella Salisbury] Jones, Athens, and Mrs. Jack [Rose] Lowe, Columbus, both former Waycrossans. Funeral services will be held tomorrow at 11 a.m. at the Mincy=Fulford Chapel with burial in Oakland Cemetery. Mincy-Fulford Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. WAYCROSS JOURNAL-HERALD WAYCROSS, GEORGIA Saturday, April 25, 1964 PERCY WALKER Funeral services for PERCY WALKER, 77, who died Wednesday, were held yesterday morning in Mincy-Fulford Chapel with the Rev. Bruce Wilson officiating. Interment was in Oakland Cemetery. Active pallbearers were Wilbur James, J. C. Leroy, L. P. Langford, Jr., A. J. Strickland, Osborne Strickland, Clarence Eidson and J. T. Williford. Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Vernon Keenan, Waycross; one sister, Mrs. D. Salisbury, Waycross; five grandchildren, three nieces and nephews.
