She was a native of Ware County and had resided most of her life in Ware County. She was married to the late Odis M. Pittman and was daughter of the late Mitchell Monroe Wilcox and Emma Lee McClellan Wilcox and was preceded death by a brother, Grady Wilcox. Mrs. Pittman was former employee of the Waycross Sitter Service and graduated in 1945 from Bacon County High School. She was a member of the Gilchrist Park United Methodist Church and the Young at Heart Group. The survivors include two sons, Larry M. Pittman (wife Cherry) of Hoboken, Gary M. Pittman (wife A. Faith CopelandPittman) of Woodbine; two grandchildren, Michelle E. Pittman of Hoboken, Haley B. She is a native of Coffee County, but she has resided most of her life in Waycross. She was a homemaker and a charter member of Grace Ministries. Her parents were the late Newton Lee McNeal and Mattie Daniels McNeal. She is the wife of the late Ward Beecher Sloan. She is also preceded in death by four brothers, six sisters and one grandchild. She was a native of Pierce County but had resided in Waycross most of her life. She was the daughter of the late William Harrison Hall and Lou Cowart Hall also preceding her in death was her first husband Dennis Fulford and second husband Domer Thornton. She was retired from MincyFulford Funeral home with working over 16 years. He was a native and resided all of his life in the Haywood Community. He was the son of the late Russell Watson Bennett and Vietta Jordan Bennett. He was a farmer, a tree farmer, a hunter, a fisherman and was outstanding in the community. He was a director of the Satilla R.E.M.C. for 40 years and was elected for four more years recently. Mr. Bennett was a member of the Board of Directors of the Ware County Farm Bureau, the Waycross Masonic Lodge 305, a York Rite Mason, the Hasan Temple, the Waycross Shrine Club, attended Haywood Baptist Church and was a 1940 graduate of Wacona High School. In 1969, he was awarded the Master Tree Farmer Award from the Commercial Bank. The survivors include his wife, Effie Mae Bennett of the Haywood Communty; a son, James Russell (Rusty) Bennett of the Haywod Communty; a grandson, Justin Brack Bennett of Haywood Community; two sisters, Lios Massey and Bernie Cummings both of Waycross; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. She was retired from Kresses and McCroys Department Store and was a Avon representative. She was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene and taught sunday school for 54 years. He is a native and lifelong resident of Ware County. He is retired as a foreman, supervisor from CSX. He served in the United States Army during World War II. He was on the board of directors for the Waycross, Ware Sports Hall of Fame. He was a member of First Christian Church and the Frank C. Folks Lodge 192 F&AM. He was also a referee with the South Georgia Officials Association. His parents were the late John Lawton Tyre and Eva Tuten Tyre. He is survived by his wife, Mary Ellen Turner Tyre of Waycross; one daughter, Lou Ellen Dean (husband Albert) of Marietta; one son, Albert Fleming Tyre, Jr. (wife Kathie Lott) of Fayetteville; two sisters, Betty T. Hickox, 83, died Saturday morning (April 7, 2001) at Satilla Regional Medical Center after an extended illness. A lifelong resident of Brantley County, he was a retired farmer and a member of Mount Calvary Baptist Church. He served in the Army during World War II and received the Purple Heart. His wife was the late Claudia Mae Youmans Hickox and his parents were David Jack Hickox and Goldie Mae Griffin Hickox. He is survived by a daughter and soninlaw, Marilyn and Ronald R. She was retired from civil service at Keesler Air Force Base, Biloxi, Miss. and had been an active member of the Church of God of Prophecy at Moss Point, Miss. During the many years she lived in Georgia, she was an active member of the Mount Green Church of God of Prophecy in Millwood. She made her home in Pascagoula, Miss. from 1965 until last year, when she moved to Florida to live with her son and his wife. During the past year she attended the Fernandina Five Points Church as often as her health permitted.
