Carey, died Saturday afternoon at his residence after an extended illness. He was a native of Lovett and had made his home in Waycross fro the past 30 years. He was a retired heavy equipment operator and had served with the US Navy during World War II. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Cleo R. Carey, Waycross; five stepdaughters, Mrs. Alma Sweat, Mrs. Lois Beaty, Mrs. Lurlyne Chancey, Mrs. Carletta Brookshire, all of Waycross and Mrs. Pearlie Mae Steverson, St. Marys; two stepsons, Carlton Rowell and Offie Rowell, both of Waycross; two brothers, N. F. Carey, Mt. Vernon and Leon Carey, Glenwood; one sister, Mrs. Wannie Edenfield, Dublin; 17 grandchildren and other relatives. Funeral will be held Tuesday at 2 o'clock at the Liberty Baptist Church near Hazlehurst. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Miles-Odum Funeral Home is in charge.
