Chancey March 26, 1959 Funeral Service Held Saturday Mr. Harry Mitchell Chancey, 67, of Offerman passed away Thursday morning, March 26, 1959, at Memorial Hospital in Waycross after a long illness. Mr. Chancey was born in Pierce County, and was the son of the late Joseph and Rena Kelly Chancey. He received his education in the schools of the county and untill declining health brought about his retirement had engaged in extensive farming op-erations. Survivors include three daughters, Mrs Norman J. Shipes and Mrs J. D. Williams, both of Savannah: Mrs. Earl Anderson of Bristol; four sons, Joe H. Chancey of Port Wentworth, Dudley H. Chancey of Savannah, Harold C. Chancey of Baton Rouge, La., and E. O. Chancey of New Orleans, La.; two sisters, Mrs.Verd Dukes and Mrs. Marion Lovett, both of Offerman; one brother, Allen Chancey of Offerman. Twenty grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon, March 28, at three o'clock from the Screven Baptist Church with the Rev. Lester Dixon and the Rev. JohnTemoshchuk conducting the rites in the presence of a large number of sorrowing relatives and friends. Interment followed in Screven Cemetery. Serving as palbearers were Messrs. Ray Wright, Larry Brown, Kenneth Roberson, James Lee,Virgil Lee and Oliver Walker. The honary excort was com-posed of Messrs. Bill Clary, Wally Dasher, Lester Blocker, George Ray, and Archie Joiner. The many beautiful floral offerings attested to the high esteem in which the deceased was held. The family has the sympathy of their many friends in their bereavement. The Chambless Funeral Home of Nahunta was in charge of arrangements.
