She attended the Lucy Cobb Institute in Athens, Ga. and Shorter College in Rome. She had lived many years in Dallas, Tex., returning to Waycross in 1979 where she was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the U. M. W., Cherokee Garden Club and the Golden K Club. She is survived by three nieces Mary Winn Pruet and her husband Frank of Waycross, Louise Liedke and her husband Fred of Northford, Conn., and Barbara Roquemore and her husband Rocky of Bay Town, Tex.; four nephews J. B. Harley, Jr. and his wife Helen of Woodbine, Ga., William Beardmore and his wife Terri of Round Rock, Tex., Dessau Benn of Orlando, Fla., and Lloyd Bunn of Lawrenceville, Ga. and other relatives. Louise Ross Anderson, 76, died early Friday morning (Nov. 30, 2001) at the Summers Landing Assisted Care Home in Douglas, following a long illness. She had been an office manager for the Big Z Warehouse, and she was a member of Mershon Baptist Church. She was a native of Homestead, Fla. but she had lived in Blackshear since 1969. Her husband, Edwin "Ed" Anderson, died in December 2000. Her parents were the late James Brown and Ida Pearl Thomas Ross. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Bernice and Marshall Bradley of Douglas; two sons, Ronnie Anderson (wife Meloise) of Fernandina Beach, Fla. and Tom Anderson of Pensacola, Fla.; two sisters, Alice Wolfe of Mary Esther, Fla. and Dorothy Cherry of Hopkinsville, Ky.; a brother, Jim Ross of Franklin, N.C.; eight grandchildren, seven great- grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Concepcion May 11, 1908 - November 30, 2001 Mr. Regal B. Concepcion, 93, died Friday night (Nov. 30, 2001) at Satilla Regional Medical Center after a brief illness. He is a native of the Phillipine Islands, but he has been a resident of the United States since he was sixteen years old and a resident of Waycross since 1978. He served in the United States Army during World War II. He worked as a representative for Duncan YoYo. He was once the World Champion YoYo Master which allowed him to perform in front of many kings, queens and other heads of states all over the world. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Men's Bible Class. He was also a member of the Waycross Lion's Club and the American Legion. He is survived by his wife, Sarah Concepcion of Waycross; three step-children, Evelyn Prewitt of Union City, IN, Marianne Brown of Centerville, OH, and Billy Jean Griner of Waycross; nine step- grandchildren; five step-great grandchildren; and several brothers, sisters, and many other relatives. He was a native of Millwood, Ga., son of the late John T. Morgan and Ofiff Morgan. He had lived most of his life in Ware County and retired in 1997 from Walker-Jones Chevolet, attended the University Blvd. Church of God and served two years with the U. S. Army. HENRY ELROY GRIFFIS HOMERVILLE--Mr. Henry Elroy Griffis,63, died Saturday evening (Dec. 1, 2001) at his residence, following an extended illness. He was the teacher for the Clinch County Alternative School when his illness forced his retirement. He had been a teacher and coach for many years and he was a former Vocational Rehabilitation counselor in Waycross. He was the radio play by play sportscaster for the Clinch County Panthers for many years, and he was a former chairman of the Clinch County Hospital Authority. Mr. Griffis was a lay speaker at his church, Homerville United Methodist, and also a member of Cassia Masonic Lodge 224, the Lake Vern Fishing Club and the Arabia Bay Hunting Club. A lifelong resident of Clinch County, he was a graduate of Clinch County Highschool, South Georgia College, and Lincoln Memorial University. His parents were Arthur and Estella Highsmith Griffis. Also preceding him in death was a brother, Jack Griffis. He is survived by his wife, Mary Jo Steedley Griffis, a daughter and son-in-law, Dawn and Howard B. A Pierce County native, he made his home in Waycross for a number of years and was formerly employed as a meatcutter for Piggly Wiggly and Byrd's IGA. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of a masonic lodge in Arlington, Ga. He attended Baptist church services. His father was the late Lenard Dixon. A son, John Moore Dixon, died in 1976. He was a native of Blackshear and the son of the late Paul Charlton Colson and Emma Belle Sedgewick Colson and the husband of the late Joyce Mademont Colson. He was retired as a commerical artist with ABC TV. He was a US Navy Veteran serving during WWII. He was a member of Las Gatos - George E. COLUMBUS, Ga.--Dr. Jackson Thomas Griffin Jr., 74, died Friday (Dec. 21, 2001) at the Columbus Hospice House. A Ware County native, he was retired from a 33-year neurosurgery practice in the Columbus area. He received the M.D. degree in 1954 from the Medical College of Georgia, and he was also an alumnus of Emory University and Emory's Oxford College. He served in the U.S. Navy as a pharmacist's mate, and he was a member of St. Paul United Methodist church in Columbus. His birthdate was Jan. 8, 1927 and his parents were Flora Cobb Griffin and Jackson Thomas Griffin Sr. A memorial service is planned for 1 p.m. today in the chapel at McMullen Funeral Home in Columbus. The family will receive friends at the funeral home following the service. Private burial rites will take place at a later date. She was a native of Bacon County but had resided in Hilliard, Fla. for the past several years. She was daughter of the late Thomas W. Thomas and Nora Walker Thomas and was preceded in death by a daughter, Joyce Elaine Greene. He had been making his home in Fernandina Beach since 1956 where he was an electrician with the Container Corporation retiring in Feb. of this year. Mrs. Cullens graduated from St. Luke's Hospital School of Nursing in 1940. She married the late William Augustus Cullens, Jr. in 1940 and then moved to St. Simons Island in 1944 where she resided for35 years. She was a charter member of St. Simon's Women's Club and the St. Simons Cotillion Club. She was also active in the St. Simons PTA, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, and the Casino Garden Club. She has resided in Waycross for the past 10 years where she was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
