 Ruby Beverley Hickox, 91, of Waycross died March 13, 2014, at Baptist Village 
Retirement Communities following an extended illness.
 She was born, the first of identical twin girls, on July 3, 1922, in Ware 
County to the late Newton Beverley, Sr. and Ida Mae Pittman Beverley. She was a 
devoted wife and loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She also 
enjoyed fishing and was a wonderful cook. She was primarily a homemaker but 
worked for a couple of years in the lunchroom at Gilchrist Park Elementary 
School. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Waycross but also enjoyed 
the church of her youth, Suwannee Chapel Church of God of Prophecy. She was 
preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, George W. Hickox. She was also 
preceded in death by her brothers, Johnson Beverley, Newton Beverley, Jr., and 
J.D. Beverley, and sisters, Annie King, Carrie Boatrifht and Minor Bennett 
Maine.
 She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert M. and Betty Hickox of 
Savannah and Virgil and Patsy Hickox of Nashville; four grandchildren, Patricia 
Hunt (husband Anthony), Phillip Hickox (wife Ileana) Amy Fackler and Rebecca 
Jenkins, 13 great-grandchildren, and several beloved nieces and nephews. She is 
also survived by her twin sister, Jessie Welch (husband Ralph J.) of Waycross.
 Funeral services were held March 17 at 2 p.m. at Music Funeral Home Chapel
 Burial followed at Oakland Cemetery.
 Music Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
