OLIVE NEIDA McQUAIG Mrs. Olive Neida McQuaig, 82, died Sunday morning (Dec. 31, 2000) at the Baptist Village Nursing Home after an extended illness. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Wesley McQuaig, and parents, Lemuel Westberry and Gusie Bryant Westberry. A lifelong resident of Waycross, she retired from Churchwell's Department Store as a saleslady and was a member of the Hebardville Baptist Church. She is survived by her daughter, Mary Frances Johnson, and her husband Buck of Waycross; a sister, Jewell Danforth of Jacksonville, Fla.; a brothe, Doyle Westberry of Nicholls; a granddaughter, Marsha Thomas, and her husband Jim of Waycross; a greatgranddaughter Jamie Thomas of Waycross; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives. Funeral will be held at 2 o'clock Wednesday in the MilesOdum Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the Oakland Cemetery. The family will receive friends this afternoon from 4 to 7 o'clock at the funeral home. Arrangements are with MilesOdum Funeral Home. Treemon E. Westberry, 75 (Dec. 29, 2000), Ware Co. (resided in Alma) TREEMON E. WESTBERRY Treemon E. Westberry, age 75, of Alma died Frieday night, Dec. 29, 2000, in Appling Health Care System in Baxley after an extended illness. He was a native of Ware County and the son of the late Lemuel Westberry and Gussie Bryant Westberry. He was of the Baptist Faith and retired from the Georgia Forestry. His hobby was making syrup. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Betsy R. Boyett. Survivors are his wife, Pauline T. Westberry of Alma; seven stepsons, John Moore, Carl Moore, Marvin Moore, all of Alma, Freddy Moore of Uvalda, Frank Moore of Jacksonville, Fla., Willie Moore and Herman Moore, both of Waycross, two stepdaughters, Virginia Leggett of Baxley, and Linda Taylor of Covington, one brother, Doyle Westberry of Nicholls; two sisters, Jewel Danforth of Jacksonville, Fla., Oneida McQuaig of Waycross; three grandchildren; one greatgrandson and several stepgrandchildren also survive. Special close friends are Charles and Pam Carter of Alma. Services were held Sunday afternoon at Lee's Chapel Baptist Church, with the Rev. Ronnie Foster and the Rev. Lowell officiating. Burial followed in Roxie Mae Cemetery in Coffee County. Casketbearers were Lyn Boyett, Chuck Carter, Chris Moore, Colby Moore, Calvin Taylor and Mitch Sears. Mr. Donald (Don) Curtis Lovett, 70, died Saturday (Jan. 27, 2001) in Satilla Regional Medical Center following a lenghty illness. A native of Waycross and had resided most of his life in Waycross and Atlanta. He was son of the late Amos Lovett and Odelle Lindsey Lovett Pogue. He was retired from Southeastern Stages Bus Lines and was a contract log hauler. Mr. Lovett served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict in Germany and was a member of Second Baptist Church. The survivors include a daughter, Jackie Lovett (fiancé Ken Word) of Atlanta; a son, Tommy Lovett (wife Linda) of Waycross; three Grandchildren, Travis Lovett, Peggy Faulk (husband Stacey), Leketta Williams (husband Sammy); three great grandchildren, Gracianna Williams, Lavan Faulk and Jade Faulk; an aunt, Idelle Mize of Waycross; numerous cousins including Carolyn Hunley and Carol Rigsby both of Waycross, Mary Virginia Brodersen of Atlanta, Sandra Cook of Albany; a special friend, Patricia Carter of Waycross. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. Mrs. Betty Bowman Floyd, 64, died Friday night (Jan. 26, 2001) at Satilla Regional Medical Center after an extended illness. She is a native and lifelong resident of Ware County, GA. She was a worker in the sewing factory and a homemaker. She was a former member of the Bible Baptist Church and attended the First Church of the Nazarene. She was the daughter of the late Morris Clinton Bowman and Cora Lula Hubbard Bowman. She is survived by her husband, Johnny Floyd of Waycross; sister, Dot Moye of Waycross; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. A funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Monday (Jan. 29, 2001) at the First Church of the Nazarene. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery. He was a native of Cumming,GA but had resided in Waycross since 1974. He was the son of the late Leon Nix and Mary Katherine Mathis Nix. He was retired with Georgia Power with 36 years of service. He was a member of Honey Grove Baptist Church in Cumming. She was the wife of the late Dr. Buell G. Herzig, and was also proceded in death by her sister, Sarah Shields Pfeiffer and brother, John Augustus Shields, Jr. Born in Dawson, she was the daughter of the late John Augustus and Marie Cheatham Shields. She moved to Waycross in 1930 and it was her home for almost 65 years. Mrs. Herzig was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and greatgrandmother. She was a lifelong member of First United Methodist Church. She graduated from Shorter College in Rome. She was past president of the Waycross Service League and Magnolia Garden Club and was a member of the Colonial Dames of America. She retired from the Ware County School System after 16 years of teaching. She was devoted to both her family and her students. She is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Herzig Hood and husband Bill of Fort Mill, South Carolina; her son, Buell Shields Herzig of Orlando, Fla.; three wonderful grandchildren, Caroline Hood Simas and husband David of Charlotte, North Carolina, Aleene Hood Miller and husband Douglas of Georgetown, South Carolina, and Shields Herzig of Orlando, Fla.; two greatgrandchildren, Davis Walker Simas and William Joseph Simas; a sisterinlaw, Christine Thiesen Shields; and several nieces and nephews; loving friends and devoted caregivers. A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at First United Methodist Church on Sunday (Feb. 4, 2001) at 3 p.m., followed by visitation at the church. Burial will be private.
