A native of Bacon County, he was a Ware County resident most of his life and was a former Ware County policeman. He was also a former Camden County police chief and formerly with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and the Big Brothers Sunday School Class. His parents were James Luther Johnson and Courtney Smith Johnson. Also prededing him in death were his brothers Erin W. Johnson, A. O. Johnson, and Hilton Johnson. He is survived by his wife, Addie Bunn Brantley Johnson, and two daughters, Susan Gail Cranshaw and Linda Darlene Sanders, all of Waycross, four grandchildren and many other relatives. A graveside service will be held at 11 a. m. Thursday at Rose Hll Cemetery, Alma. Memorial may be given to the Trinity Methodist Church "House of Hope," 1005 Church St., Waycross, Ga., 31501, or the American Cancer Soceity, 1599 Knight Ave., Waycross, Ga. 31501. Arrangements are with Music Funeral Home.
