H. D. MINYARD, prominent Baptist minister, who died Tuesday, were held Thursday afternoon at 3 o’clock at Second Baptist Church with Rev. A. J. Harper, Rev. R. W. Major, Rev. Carlton Shepard, Rev. I T. Sweet and Rev. L. C. Hallenger officiating. Interment was in Oakland Cemetery. Masonic rites were conducted at the graveside. Rev. Mr. Minyard was born in Carnesville on March 8, 1877. At the age of 15, he joined New Hope Baptist Church. He was ordained into the ministry at Liberty Baptist Church in the Tugalo Association at the request of Cabin Creek Church, which was his first pastorate in his long and successful ministry. Rev. Mr. Minyard served his denomination with distinction and loyalty, acting as chairman of the Children’s Home and other important committees. He was moderator of the Piedmont Association during 1938-1939 and was a member of the executive committee of the association. The churches he had served included Abbeville, Pleasant Grove, Rebecca, Abba, Beulah, Broxton, Denton, West Green, Sand Hill, Patterson Hoboken, Hebardville, St. George and Crawford Street. He assisted in the organization of Youman’s Chapel Church and served as assistant pastor of Gilchrist Park Baptist Church and Second Baptist Church. He had an enviable record of service in ordaining preachers and deacons. An active Master Mason, the Rev. Mr. Minyard was a member of Frank C. Folks Lodge # 192. He had served faithfully many years as chaplain of the lodge. Mincy Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
