A native of Waresboro, he had resided in Albany for over 50 years, moving back to Waycross seven years ago. He retired from the Seaboard Coast Line Railroad as a locomotive engineer in 1961. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers, the Trinity United Methodist Church and the Big Brothers Sunday School Class. He was also a member of the Hasan Temple in Albany, the Dougherty Lodge No. 591, F. & A.M, the William Penn Chapter No.5, Royal Arch Masons and the St. Paul Commandery No. 24, Knights Templar. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Ethel Smith Mullis, Waycross; two sisters, Mrs. Alex Sweat and Mrs. Erin W. Pafford, both of Waycross; one brother, Brooks Mullis, Waycross; nieces, nephews and other relatives. Funeral will be held tomorrow at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Miles-Odum Funeral Home. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the residence, 1511 Dean Drive, and will also receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 9 o'clock tonight.
