D. William Noble Nanney, M. D., Eye, Ear, Nose, and Throat specialist was born near Evansville, Ind., Aug. 9, 1853. His father, Hiram Casey Nanny, was born in Kentucky in 1822 but moved to Indiana 1840 and still lives in Evansville where four daughters and two sons reside. His mother, Miss Ann, was the daughter of Jesse B. Miller. Her mother’s family name was Iglehart. At the time of the doctor’s birth, his father was a farmer, but later engaged in merchandising and tobacco buying. Amos Nanney, the doctor’s grandfather, was one of the largest land owners of Warrick county, Indiana. The subject of this sketch was educated in the schools of Evansville, Ind., graduating from the Medical College of Evansville in 1878. He took Post Graduate courses in Chicago and New York on eye, ear, nose, and throat. His first practice was in 1878 in Wabash county, Illinois. Later he practiced in Missouri but last 13 years of practice was in Evansville, Ind., from where he came to Waycross in Aug. 1905. Doctor Nanney belongs to Trinity Methodist Church where he joined by letter. In former locations he has filled nearly all offices in the church open to layman. He married Miss Lizzie C., the daughter of Rev. Jason Carson, Methodist minister of Southern IIlinois. The children are Leslie, Clyde, Beulah, and Miriam. Leslie is taking the science course in Earlham College, Richmond, Indiana. Like many other professional men he taught country schools before and during his medical education, thus working his way through.
