Her last illness was lengthy. She had served as a foster parent and was a member of Victory Baptist Church. She was a native of Bell, FL but made her home in Pierce and Ware counties for many years. Her Husband was the late John Wesley Johnson and her parents were George H. and Ethel Mae Simmons Fowler. She is survived by five daughters: Mrs. Louise Rowell, Mrs. Carolyn Tuten and Mrs. Faye Higginbotham, all of Blackshear, Mrs. Merinda Bennett of Houston, TX, and Mrs. Joy Dixon of Waycross; three sons, Leo Johnson of Hoboken, James Edward Johnson of Folkston and John C. Johnson of Waycross; one sister, Mrs. Vera Howell of Waycross; one brother, E.G. Fowler of Waycross; 28 grandchildren, 50 great-grandchildren and many other relatives. The funeral will be Saturday at 11 A.M. at Youmans Chapel Baptist Church with the Rev. Randall Gunter officiating. The body will be placed in the church at 10 A.M. Burial will be in the Ben James Cemetery in Pierce Co., GA. The body will be taken this afternoon to the residence of her daughter Faye Higginbotham, 2255 Pinecrest Lane in the Hacklebarney Community of Pierce County. Arrangements are with Dixon-Bowen-Taylor Funeral Home. The active pallbearers were Alvin Rowell, Jr., Craig Johnson, Wesley Tuten, John Johnson, Charles Studstill, Tony Thrift, Robin Johnson and Kenneth Johnson.
