A native of Hilliard, Fla., he had lived in Pierce County for most of his adult life. He had worked as a carman with CSX and was of the Primitive Baptist faith. He was a son of the late William J. "Bill" and Eula Hodges Thrift and was also preceded in death by his wife, Janice Roberson Thrift, who passed away in 1986, and by two brothers, John David Thrift and Leroy Thrift. Survivors are two daughters, Debra Ann Deen (Fiance Dewey Bagley) of Waycross and Patricia (Donnie) James of Blackshear; two sons, Bill (Lisa) Thrift and Sheldon (Kecia) Thrift all of Waycross; a sister, Bonnie (Glynn) Hickox of Waycross; a brother, Earl (Beatrice) Thrift of Blackshear; 10 grandchildren, Kandi Deen, Matt Deen, Kidd Deen, Kandi James, Ben James, Chance James, Kane Thrift, Ivey Thrift, Kuff Thrift and Pierce Thrfit; one great-grandchild, MacKenzie Deloach; a special friend, Regina Jordan of Blackshear and several nieces, nephews and other relatives. A funeral will be held Thrusday at 3 p.m. at the Pearson-Treadwell Chapel. Officiating will be the Rev. Edmund Thrift, Elder J. L. Rowan and Dr. Earl Martin. Burial will be in the Enon Cemetery. Visitation will be held tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Southeast Cancer Unit. P.O. Box 2764, Waycross, Ga. 31502.
