Guthrie James R. Guthrie, 83, of Lake City, FL. passed away Saturday, March 6, 2004, at Lake City VA Medical Center. James was born in Ware County, GA. on Aug. 22, 1920 to the late Jim and Ophelia Guthrie. He was a retired farmer and World War II veteran of the United States Army. Mr. Guthrie was preceded in death by his two brothers, Troy and Huey Guthrie and four sisters, Alene G. Stormant, Pauline G. Stansel, Alma G. Tillis and Ethel G. Hall. Survivors include his half brother, Richard Tillis, Gulfport, MS and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Monday, march 8 in the chapel of Harry T. Reid Funeral Home with Bro. Randy Ogburn officiating. Interment followed in Mt. Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery in Suwannee County. Harry T. Reid Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Additional Comments: James R. Guthrie was a son of James M. and Ophelia Guthrie. James R. Guthrie was grandson of Narcissus Guthrie of Berrien County and later, Ware County where she lived with her oldest son, Henry Sanford "Hosea" Guthrie.
