Waycross Journal-Hearld 08/07/1944
     Mrs. Martha Simmons, 94, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. E.M.Fowler,
Waycross, Route 2, Saturday and funeral services were held today at New Hope
Cemetery, near Bell, FL.  Mrs. Simmons was born near Boston, GA.
     She is survived by one son, H.W. Simmons of Bell, FL, four daughters, Mrs.
J.S. White of Sun City, FL, Mrs. M.E. Waters of Tampa, FL, Mrs. E.M. Fowler of
Waycross and Mrs. Gene Townsend of Tampa, FL, also 43 grandchildren, 71
great-grandchildren and ten great great-grandchildren; one brother, Charlie
Abbott of Tarpon Springs, FL, and three sisters, Mrs. Emma Gay of Jacksonville,
Mrs. Kate Dokes of Jacksonville, and Mrs. Sallie Douglas of Gainsville, FL.
       W.L. Hinson and Company was in charge of arrangements.
