Officiating was Rev. Wendal Thomas. Mrs. Shipes passed away early Tuesday morning in Ware Memorial Hospital, Waycross, after a long illness. A native of Florida, she had made her home in Clinch County most of her life, and was a widow of Johnny L. Shipes. She was a member of the Baptist Church at Screven. Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Carrie Lee Chauncey (spelled wrong, should read CHANCEY) of Port Wenthworth, Mrs. Velma Chauncey (spelled wrong, should read CHANCEY) of Marrero, Louisiana, Miss Pauline Shipes of Argyle; four sons, John H. Shipes of Marrero, Louisiana, Joseph E. Shipes of Argyle, Cecil E. Shipes of Kingsland, Texas, Homer L. Shipes of Jacksonville, Florida; three sisters, Miss Susie Boatright and Mrs. Billy Jennings of Homerville, Mrs. L M Snellgrove of Waycross; three brothers , Chesley Boatright , Clarence C. Boatright and Edward Boatright, all of Homerville; 13 grand children and 10 great grand children.
